„The term Warporn describes the phenomenon of people watching real videos and pictures of war situations for pleasure. In itself it is not a new phenomenon, but became increasingly popular with the boom of digital technology and the invention of the Internet.“ schreibt die Künstlerin Monika Grabuschnigg. Am kommenden Freitag eröffnet eine Solo-Ausstellung in Berlin und zeigt erstmals ihre Warporn Arbeiten in Deutschland. Es lohnt sich!
Der Kurator Vincent Surmont schreibt in der Einladung:
In the work series WARPORN, the abstraction of violence and the post-modern and asymmetric warfare and its representations are the main areas of research. Monika Grabushniggs’ focus is on the artefacts of security-fetishism that surround us increasingly. Her work reflects an aesthetic fascination for objects that are made to overcome angst and foster (self)-control.
